Recent polls have shown that 82% of the American public believes
the country is on the wrong track and 52% want sweeping change in government.
Many if not all conservatives attribute the situation to 7 and a half years of
Obama in spite of his job creation record, the fastest reduction in employment
rate since the last century, and the fact that his popularity rating is higher
than many previous presidents at this twilight stage of his administration.
Republicans can't seem to admit that the country is on the
wrong track because of the disastrous 8 years of their Bush administration that
resulted in our great recession, and 15 years of war. Not content, the GOP then
followed up with complete obstructionism and downright disrespectful
anti-democratic behavior since Obama took office.
The republican congress is at an all-time low in popularity,
about 10%, and the vast majority of the nation is disgusted at their inactivity
and refusal to compromise in order to move our country forward. At the same
time the conservative Supreme Court has sanctioned large corporate money for
use in political maneuvering, a decision that has emasculated the rights of the
individual voter. Additionally, the pro-business philosophy of the
conservatives has allowed businesses and the super-rich to amass untold wealth
and sit on it, or shift it offshore, rather than pay employees a decent wage.
Little wonder people are annoyed.
A sweeping change is definitely needed. One that will rid us
of career politicians and naysayers in congress who are holding us back and
return government to a negotiating body on behalf of all the people as it was
designed to be.
