Obamacare Technical Glitch

May 4th 2015

Alan Fram writes in Monday’s AJC about the debate splitting the GOP over what to do if the Supreme Court strikes down part of  President Obama’s signature health care law. The GOP has tried to repeal the ACA more than 50 times wasting time and money in Congress that could have been better spent  on more pressing matters. Now they have found  a technicality that gives them an opening to challenge the law in court.    If they succeed more than 7 million people will lose subsidies provided by the ACA to help cover their health insurance.

The GOP are now worried that such a move could act against their interests and are struggling to come up with a fix if the Supreme Court rules with them. How ironic!  After all this time denigrating the ACA, they now face the prospect of trying to save part of it. Why not just withdraw the court case and admit that this law is helping people across the country? Since it’s implementation millions of people  have  gained insurance and overall health costs have dropped. It’s time for the GOP to act on behalf of the American people instead of their own re-election interests.
