Trump, his appointees, and the republican congress are
acting as if they have received a mandate from the American electorate. They
need to be reminded strongly that at least 2 million more people voted for the
progressive candidate and the policies she espoused. That is definitely not a
mandate for the new congress to roll back the social progress we have made over
the last 60 years.
We the people need to make it very clear that healthcare and
livelihood are rights not entitlements. The republican plans for Medicare will
hurt over 57 million seniors and disabled people. It will kill many of
us. Their plans for Medicaid are even worse and will affect over 77
million people. That combined total is more than a third of the population of our
entire country and we have a loud voice. None of us who are in that demographic
want congress to harm the programs that keep us alive and well. The new
legislators should take note that their actions won't go unnoticed, and that
they must listen to the will of the people, else their power trip will be short
lived.
