The
latest cartoon by Michael Ramirez is despicable. Using the Challenger explosion
as a frivolous prop to support his hatred of President Obama is beyond any
bounds of decency. The entire country stopped on that day in 1986 when those
brave astronauts died in the service of their country. They were true heroes
who knew the risks and still pursued a course to expand our knowledge and help
all mankind.
President
Obama's healthcare act is also intended to help. Especially those
Americans who live on the lower fringe of our society and suffer as a result.
It is a noble effort which we should rally around to help succeed. Instead,
people of Ramirez's ilk take pleasure in opposing and obstructing this and any
other action President Obama proposes to help the country. I really think
the AJC should seek out some other cartoonist to represent the conservative
viewpoint. Using Ramirez only adds to the general public opinion of the
conservatives as radical obstructionists.
