The recent republican debate seemed more like a circus
event, complete with star clown, instead of a statesmanlike policy discussion
befitting reasonable candidates for the office of the presidency. If one thing
has emerged, it is the lack of understanding among conservatives as to what is needed
to truly heal the country. A brief history of republican activity makes clear
their continued wrongheadedness with polices that don't work and have hurt
America.
They were wrong with Iraq and now we have terrorist
organizations breeding at an exponential rate and threatening our security.
They were wrong in giving tax cuts to the rich as evidenced by the drop in jobs
and salaries that has dogged us since, and continues to generate unprecedented
levels of inequality. They were wrong in pushing for deregulation that
resulted in the financial system failing on a global scale and thrusting us
into a major recession.
They were wrong on Obamacare in their time wasting attempts
to repeal it, whilst millions were helped by the law, and costs came more under
control. They were wrong on Obama's stimulus program, and the Fed's bond
purchase program, as inflation remained in check, millions of jobs were
created, the deficit reduced, and the economy mended. They were wrong in
opening the political donation floodgates to corporate money as the rich elite
now have more than their fair share of influence on elections.
They were wrong in refusing to compromise and actually
shutting down the government. They just don't seem to learn from their
mistakes and cling stubbornly to ideas that have been proven wrong time and
again.
How much more evidence does the voter need to understand how
we have been misled by conservatives who obviously don't have the average
American at heart?
