David Brooks claims that Hillary Clinton's popularity has
dropped because she is not personable and is acting out a role. That reasoning
conflicts with her high popularity not so long ago when she was Secretary of
State, and Senator from New York. I think the answer lies in the fact
that Bernie Sanders is still in the race. He has siphoned off many democrats
and most independents into his camp, so when questioned about Clinton's
popularity, that segment of the polled public will probably respond negatively.
Once Bernie realizes that the race is really over and he graciously
withdraws, many of his supporters will realize how important it is keep Donald
Trump away from the most powerful seat in the world. Hillary's popularity will
then improve, and perhaps at that time Brooks will have to write a column
explaining how her glowing personality suddenly emerged into the light.
