Last Thursday Hillary Clinton made history by accepting the
nomination of the Democratic Party to become the first female presidential
candidate of a major political party. Her reasonable policies and ideas
stand in stark contrast to those of Donald Trump who also made history the week
before, by becoming the first demagogue to be nominated by a major political
party. His delusions of regal authoritarian rule became truly apparent in his
acceptance speech, where he anointed himself as the savior, in total disregard
of the tenets of the union established by the founding fathers. Concern
for the rise of someone like him, is the very reason that our forebears fought
a revolutionary war, to forever free us from oppression and rule by a single
power, and place control in the hands of "we the people". Now trump
has taken it a step further and urged that we "lock her up". A tactic
in use by Putin, Assad, Erdogan, Kim
Jong-Un, and a long line of despotic kings and dictators who destroyed anyone who
opposed or criticized them. Is this really what America wants?
