GOP Holding up supreme court replacement

The hypocrisy of the republicans knows no bounds. These people, who love to cite the constitution for their own benefit, are now ignoring the clear duty spelled out in the body of our founding document calling for the president and the senate to propitiously fill vacancies on the Supreme Court. President Obama is ready to perform his duty to put forward a nominee, but the republicans in the senate are thumbing their noses at our democratic process and refusing to consider any candidate that Obama might choose. 

That isn't how our democracy works. The people deserve to have a complete slate of Justices on the Supreme Court. They represent the final word in the process that interprets the laws by which we live. To ignore an open seat simply for partisan political reasons is not what our founding fathers intended, and they clearly codified those instructions in the constitution. There is no clarification or nuanced discussion required.  It's one of the most important duties of our elected officials. We the people deserve better than republican senators obstructing the confirmation process in conflict with their oath of office. They should be recalled or replaced, and the 2016 elections are a good place to start.
